I was deadheading some rose bushes so that they would use their growth energy to produce more flowers. If the spent blossoms are not deadheaded (cut off) the rose bush will use energy to reproduce in the form of seeds. This seed pod on a rose bush is also its fruit.
The rose’s fruit is called a hip that contains the seeds known as achenes. Rose hips are very rich in vitamin C, plus they contain vitamins D & E, contain essential fatty acids, and antioxidants. Many vitamin and herbal supplements contain rose hips. Rose hips are traditionally collected and used to make tea, jam, jelly, pies, oil and bread.
I can ‘personally’ remember televisions without remote controls. Back in a time, when the term couch potato didn’t even exist. In this current modern world of my forty ninth year living in it; I have seen all kinds of gadgets and technology come and go.
Today; I sit and write this article on an awesome laptop that sure beats my first computer with a DOS only operating system and 5¼-inch FDD (floppy disk drive).
These huge advances in technology are likened to a two edged sword. Technology has made the world and life efficient and effective. Yet! The flip side is that, it has created a world society addicted to lusting after instant gratification.
The End is trending bigger than ever within our Churches today. Everyone seems to be caught up in the whole end times of bible prophecy. The trouble with too much focus on the End is that; the central core focus of the bible, is left waning leaving it devoid of its fundamental teachings.
Fine! I get it, and I agreed; the human race is running out of time. Yes, I can safely say that we are living in the end times. And yes, that is the Same Song Different Verse that the prophets, Jesus, and the disciples were singing too! (Matthew 24:44), (2 Peter 3:3-4), (Matthew 24:42), (Matthew 24:14), (2 Timothy 3:1-5), I could go on and on, et cetera et cetera.
Jesus created everything (John 1:1-3)(Colossians 1:16) in the beginning of creation including the Fish. In the beginning of the bible in the book of Genesis chapter one verse twenty, fish are the first creatures to be mentioned to appear and are the only species not taken into the ark. (Genesis 1:20) Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.”
A Fishy Town and Fishermen
Jesus gets a little more fishy. And, most importantly, Jesus choose fishermen for the monumental job of spreading his word and building his church. (Luke 5:1-11)
Forgiveness does not mean Fellowship. For some the thought of forgiving someone can send shock waves of fear through our minds. For some people forgiveness means they are once again at risk and unduly exposed to more hurt and abuse.
By definition Forgiveness and Fellowship mean two totally different things, yet most people simply assume they must go hand and hand, especially if that person is the abuser in the relationship. The one that needs to be forgiven is the one that is quick to also say…forgive and forget. Which by the way also do not mean the same thing either!
The world is drunk with sin and self, teetering on the edge of God’s judgment and righteous wrath. (2 Timothy 3:2-5) For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
Many; but thankfully not all, popular modern religious institutions and influential ministers today focus mainly on the feel good side of religion. This in part, is due to an honest yearning to reach someone anyone in the secular world to draw them into the blessings and love of God.
There are also those who only preach a feel good side of God. They do not know to fear the Lord which is to Love God. To truly know God you will know His righteousness, jealousy, and wrath. (Deuteronomy 10:12) “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?”
