Muddy Water Ministers
I am a very avid fisherman to the point that it could almost be a sin for me, “if I were willing to admit it.” As a fisherman I know that if the waters are clear the fish can easily see my bait.
I also know that the clearer water intimidates some fish because of the exposed visibility. A fishes instinct tells them they are the bait for larger predators hunting the waters.
This is when the wind is my friend because a little chop and disturbance of the water provides essential camouflage between predator and prey. The clear water and wind from the Holy Spirit makes the perfect sport-fishing day!(John 3:8)
Being a professionally sinful fisherman, means my compulsion for fishing drives me to challenge the muddy water fishing as well. I know that the fish can not readily see to hunt down my offerings, so I Go Big and stinky or Go Home.
I know the fish hunting in these conditions are either really hungry or aggressive enough to lash out with a reaction strike allowing me to Hook ’em & Reel ’em in.
Muddy water fishing has its complexities. I can’t see. The fish can’t see. We are both in the dirty water looking for something stinky that we think smells great!
If I accidentally hook one of these fish in the gills causing a mortal wound. It necessarily becomes table fare. Even the preparations for this muddy meat has its own set of complexities.
Muddy water Ministers are kinda like muddy water fisherman.
These Fishers of Men (Matthew 4:19) professing the word of the Lord in perfect union and direction of the Wind of the Holy Spirit find that, witnessing to others is enjoyable and quite rewarding to say the least.
The souls harvested and brought to the Lord’s table know exactly what just happened, and where they are going next. The Clear Water Ministers do their job to alleviate what appears complex about the Lord.
The Muddy Water Minister may have started with good intentions. Which quickly become stained and tainted from floundering around in the mucky waters of life. Compromising by joining in a little of the sin to reach their peers.
The mortally wounded and Lost Souls they are trying to reach can only be helped if the Muddy Water Minister firsts gets out of the Mud. Get on shore and assess the water.
These same people can be reached by clarifying your witness. With the right tackle and tools being “Fishers of Men” in the muddy water of Life can make the Job a whole lot less complex.(Matthew 4:19)
Greeting a sinner at a well of water, does not mean we must drink with them in their sin. (John 4:13-15)
