You might be surprised to see this about America... talk about the fingerprints of God on our nation. America became what it became on the world scene by Providence. Take a look. It's quite a stunning visual. The map of the USA correlates with the ancient tabernacle of Moses.

In reply to <a href="https://somejesusthings.com/my-brothers-keeper/#comment-29">Alida</a>.

Thank you for your gracious compliment.

Scriptures do not explicitly state that God had required a sacrifice. To this end, neither does it delineate a type of sacrifice.

If we indeed make the assumption that Cains offering was for the covering of sin, then you are correct and this would be evidenced with the rest of Scriptures.

Levitical Law teaches that God required firstfruits in the grain offerings also.

‘If you offer a grain offering of your firstfruits to the Lord, you shall offer for the grain offering of your firstfruits green heads of grain roasted on the fire, grain beaten from full heads. (Leviticus 2:14)

We only have two supportive verses upon which to draw testimony as truth.

By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.(Hebrews 11:4)

For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous. (1 John 3:11-12)

I agree that Adam and Eve probably taught their children as all parents do. I can also assume that God may have used this opportunity to teach the whole family what is or is not acceptable.

I can not however state this as fact. As a writer/teacher I can only let Scripture interpret Scripture.
